My name is Debra Caves.  I am starting my twenty-sixth year of teaching and my fourteenth year here at JMPS.  I currently teach 7th grade Pre-Algebra, 8th grade Algebra I and High School Algebra I.  I received my Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education from Grand Canyon University and my Master’s degree in Education from Northern Arizona University.  I believe in creating a positive and safe learning environment where students are not afraid to learn and take risks to improve themselves both as students and individuals.  I encourage a learning environment where it is OK to make mistakes, but teach that perseverance and tenacity is how we learn and become stronger students.

When I am not teaching, I love spending time with my husband and my two daughters going on adventures (my favorite was hiking the Grand Canyon and camping for three nights).  I also love to workout, read, and spend time with my friends.  My favorite memories of high school are the Friday night football games and playing the flute in the marching band.
