FAQ

What is a charter school?
A charter school is a publicly funded, privately run school that is sanctioned (or chartered) by the State of Arizona. Charter schools must follow certain basic state regulations, but they are free to make independent decisions about schedules, calendars, curriculum, and much more. Essentially, a charter school is its own school district. 
​​What does it cost to go to James Madison Preparatory School?
There is no tuition. Charter schools are taxpayer funded.
Is there a dress code?
Yes there is a dress code for both middle school and high school. Please see the Home page for the current dress code handbook. 
DO COLLEGES ACCEPT James madison GRADUATES? WHAT ABOUT SCHOLARSHIPS?
James Madison alumni can be found on college campuses all around the country. Many of them are scholarship winners. College admissions staffers are always happy to see the rigorous James Madison curriculum and the high caliber of students that progress through JMPS.
How long is the school day?
8:00 am to 3:15 pm
How much homework should a student expect each night?
It varies quite a bit because students differ so much, but allowing for one to two hours of homework a night would be a good rule.
What school grades does JMPS serve?
We offer grades 6th-12th, but only accept enrollment for grades 6th-10th.
Do james Madison graduates receive a real diploma?
Absolutely. The high school diploma James Madison graduates get is every bit as legitimate as any other high school graduate's in the state.
What extracurricular programs does JMPS offer?
Athletic Programs: Football, Volleyball, Sparx Danceline, Varsity Girls & Boys Basketball, JV Boys Basketball, Softball, Baseball, Soccer, Track & Field, Sand Volleyball, Cross Country
Fine Arts Programs: Choir, Orchestra, Rock Band, Ukulele, Fall Play, Musical

What is the student body and class size?
Our student body size ranges from 170-190 students, on average the individual class size ranges from 10-18 students in a classroom.
