Teacher Bio:
I was born and raised in Arizona and started attending JMPS day 1 of 7th grade. I graduated in the largest class of 32 kids and I am now incredibly privileged to work with some of my teachers and two of my fellow classmates. They say the most impressive form of flattery is imitation, so that should tell you a lot about my feelings for this school. I attended NAU for a year and loved the weather and small town, but found at the same time that I am a “big city” person. I love the hustle and bustle and constant activities that the Phoenix area offers. I moved back and finished my last 3 years of education at ASU with a Bachelor’s Degree in Genetics, Cells and Developmental Biology. I found my love for teaching as an after school teacher and camp counselor for 18 months during college. I was then a nanny to 4 great kids who are now family. After graduating, I worked in a lab as a Clinical Study Coordinator. Six months later, I heard about the addition of 6th grade to JMPS and fell in love with the idea of teaching at one of my favorite places. I am so privileged to be teaching your students and working in a place with so many great memories. When not at school, I work at ASU Gammage as a theater technical stagehand. My favorite things to do are spend my time outside hiking, kayaking, traveling. I also love theater and attend many shows throughout the year at local theaters; most of my favorite JMPS memories come from being involved in the musicals. I have an addiction to coffee, especially Starbucks, and most weekends you can find me with my four favorite kids at the Zoo or the Aquarium. We are privileged with flexibility this year in 6th grade since the first part of the day will be a self-contained class. This allows us to spend more time in certain areas of interest on a daily basis; with this in mind, below is a general schedule of how our days will flow in the classroom.
