PSAT

The PSAT/NMSQT ( Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test) is a standardized test that allows the student to practice before taking the SAT.  This test also gives the student a chance to enter into National Merit Scholarship Corporation scholarship programs.  The PSAT measures your knowledge in three areas:  critical reading, math problem-solving, and writing.  There are many reasons why students decide to take the PSAT.  These reasons include:

• Identifying your strengths and weaknesses on the test.
• Additional study and practice before taking the SAT.
• Evaluating your performance by comparing your score and ranking with others that are applying to college.
• The ability to enter the competition for scholarships from the National Merit Scholarship Corporation your junior year of high school.
• Familiarizing yourself with an array of questions and the exact directions you will see on the SAT. 

 All 10th / 11th grade students at JMPS take the PSAT

The PSAT is scheduled for Wednesday, October 14th.
