My
name is Ken Roberts. I am now in my fifth year teaching at JMPS.
My background is in electrical engineering. I have a
Bachelor’s degree from McGill University and a Masters from the
University of Toronto.
During my career I have worked in development labs at major technology
companies in both Canada and the United States. More recently I spent
six years as the owner/operator of a retail photographic business.
Teaching
could be considered my family’s business. When we closed the
photo business in 2001, I decided to return to my roots and pursue a
teaching career. I received my teacher training from Rio Salado
College and now hold an Arizona teaching certificate. Prior to
joining the staff at JMPS, I taught briefly at Crittenton Youth Academy
and Kachina Country Day School.
One
of my passions is youth soccer. I came to the coaching position
here with about ten years' experience in youth soccer programs
including both recreational and club teams at all age groups.
My
wife, Gillian, and I celebrated our 40th wedding anniversary in
2008. We have two grown daughters and two grandsons. When
not working, I enjoy photography and listening to jazz and classical
music. We travel as often as we can and particularly enjoy
exploring Arizona and the neighboring states. We currently have
one additional member of our household. Noni is German shepherd
puppy we are raising for the Eye Dog Foundation.
