| The James Madison Preparatory Junior High government was set up for two reasons. First, to train the junior high students in the way of the government system. This is a small way to prepare them for the experience of our student government here in the high school when they move on. Once the three representatives from each homeroom are elected (2 8th grade, 1 7th grade) the council meets to choose their officers. The officers are President, Vice President, Treasurer, and Secretary. The remaining students are then their council members. The council meets biweekly. The second reason the council was created was to give the middle school students a way to plan activities for the junior high. Last year they council planned two movie nights and organized a pizza party. The council is also in charge of alternative food days for the junior high, such as our Pizza Thursday last year.
