My Biography

I have been with James Madison Prep School since before its birth in 2000. The founding of JMPS was a family endeavor, and the mission of the school is close to my heart.  I consider my time here an honor and a privilege and I am thankful to each and every parent and student that has chosen to grant us the opportunity of serving their family.   Originally, I served as internal case management for special education and related services, and now my duties have expanded to include all standardized test prep and administration as well as college guidance preparation.

Currently, I teach Health and Psychology.  I hold two degrees – A.A.S. – Mental Health and B.S. in Nutrition.  My certifications include:  Dependent Adult Abuse, Medications Administration, Individual Program Planning, Prevention and Management of Aggressive Behavior, TEACCH, Psychotropic Medication Review and The James McMahon Institute for Communication.  Prior to the founding of JMPS, I spent a fair amount of my career working with adults and children with developmental disabilities in a variety of roles including  case management/ administration and consultation to facilities throughout the state regarding county, state and federal compliance requirements.

I have one son – Christopher – who will be the first Batchelder to attend JMPS as a student.  I have two pugs – who will not be attending JMPS – as much as they may like to.  I enjoy gardening and making mud pies – any chance to get my hands dirty. I love to eat and I look forward to many wonderful years to come, serving our students, both contemporary and those still in Kindergarten at some far off school!
